Wow. What an awesome wedding loaded with intense emotion, heartfelt joy and passion. Melissa and Andreas had it all wrapped up in a stunning package. Oue Werf and Orchard Fine Foods was the venue and Melissa got dressed at Berluda Farmhouse. The heat during the day was intense, even searing at times (as it always gets in December), but the evening was marvellous – couples dancing underneath the moonlight with guests chatting away at their tables under the orchard trees. In a word, brilliant.
Set in the Waboomskraal area, Oppi Plaas wedding venue offers landscape scenery that is second to none. A fantastic venue for all weddings, big or small. Henk and Marelize’s ceremony was concluded in the rustic open-air chapel. With clouds coming over the Outeniqua Mountains, as so often happens here, the light was ever changing and created a beautiful backdrop during the photo session.
What better way to tie the knot outdoors on a beautiful Karoo day, surrounded by the people you care about. And this is what Raymond and Juvene did at the historic Rietfontein Ostrich Palace. The palace was built in 1909 and Rietfontein is the oldest working ostrich farm in the world, established in 1879. What a beautful place for a couple to start their lives together.
Nico and Monique tied the knot at Kleingeluk Venue, a short drive from Hartenbos. With a rustic theme, an old BMW “witnessing” the ceremony, a golden 80’s Mercedes Benz as wedding car and perfect light for the beach shoot, what could be better? A stunning and very special wedding!
George and Mari got married at Cango Ostrich Show Farm, just outside Oudtshoorn in the picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley. The ceremony overlooked the valley which offers a birds-eye-view of the surroundings. The Karoo, once again, did not disappoint on that beautiful summer’s evening.
A picturesque and rustic wedding set in the Little Karoo outside Oudtshoorn at Highgate Ostrich Showfarm, the oldest and most original ostrich show farm in the world. Reinhardt and Elizma readied themselves at De Denne guestfarm which is a short drive away form Highgate. The fantastic weather was briefly interrupted by a few short cloudbursts, but cleared up fairly quickly, as it always does in the Klein Karoo. The photographs were taken in and around the Volmoed-area, which is within a 10 km-radius of the venue. The reception was held at the Pepper Tree Restaurant and Venue by Nellie Burger and her capable team.
Not far from Touwsriver is a beautiful guestfarm called Kopbeenskloof, a unique venue that offers overnight facilities for all guests attending the wedding. Wouter and his wife played host to this beautiful wedding on a cold and rainy Saturday and everybody celebrated until the early hours and stayed over in the accommodation provided next to the venue. Adele got dressed at Leeuwenboschfontein Guestfarm and the groom readied himself in the Karoo-cottage available as accomodation on the farm itself.
Ludwig and Elbie decided to get married in the Dutch Reformed Church of Prince Albert and the reception was held at the stunning Aviator Estate in Prince Albert Valley, a unique fly-in venue/airplane hangar and beautiful adjacent accomodation, where Elbie and her girls got dressed. With ample photographic opportunities, Prince Albert and it’s valley offers views, vistas and beautiful sunsets second to none, while the hangar-venue can host up to 200 guests.
Curtley and Irma got married in the beautiful Anglican Church of Mossel Bay and held the reception at Cafe Gannet, The Ochre venue. A quiet seaside town, Mossel Bay has so much to offer in terms of photographic opportunities and the perfect place to host your wedding. The beaches are stunning, as the the photographs will testify to and the climate is temperate throughout the year.
Karoo towns like Uniondale may not seem like an obvious choice to get married in, but every time I photograph a wedding there, I am struck by it’s simplicity, history and rustic charm. Choosing accomodation isn’t a problem and the venue at the showgrounds is spacious enough to host a fairly large amount of people. The weather on Jompie and Yolani’s wedding day was one of those rare days when the Karoo is partly overcast AND it rains, but it was a lot of fun! Uniondale rules!
Set in perhaps one of the most idyllic Great Karoo settings, Abrahamskraal is quite simply spectacular on a warm, wind still Karoo night. And best of all, nobody is around to complain about the noise coming from the festivities! Theuns and Alicia got dressed in Prince Albert and chose the beautiful Dutch Reformed church for the ceremony. A perfect day that ended in an all-night party. Awesome!
On a hot summer’s day, just outside of Oudtshoorn, Ronnie and Rachael tied the knot at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, complete with an encounter with the elephants, Jabari, Malaika and Bulelo. A wedding at Buffelsdrift isn’t complete without an encounter with these lovely, peaceful animals and the photo shoot was everything a bridal couple and photographer could ever want!
As you pass through Seweweekspoort coming from Zoar, you enter into Vleiland, where a farm called Middelplaas was the venue for this amazing wedding. De Vos and Michelle tied the knot in the local farm church and Michelle got dressed on Zandrivier Guestfarm. The reception in the farm shed was everything a bride could want, complete with ostrich feathers, succulents, lanterns and fairy lights.
